MTV Celebrates 30 Years – Remembering The Beginning (Blog)

Posted on 8/1/2011

My wife Sandra and I were married in 1979 and lived in Madison, TN, a suburb of Nashville.  In those days cable television weren’t available in our area, although if it were, we couldn’t afford it anyway.  Heck, we didn’t even have a telephone during most of the first year of our marriage and we definitely didn’t go out to eat.  There were times we would save up $15 or $20 to go to a concert (yes that was the price for two tickets in those days).  Our entertainment mainly consisted of walking to the little league baseball field behind our apartment to watch the kids play (and the parents scream!) or visit friends to play board games and play music.  TV really wasn’t our main source of entertainment and you could tell it by the 13 inch black and white television we owned.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2011 Induction Ceremony – New York, NY – Waldorf Astoria – 3/14/2011 (Blog)

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2011 Induction Ceremony Written by Josh Jackson

For the second year in a row I was invited to work as the script supervisor for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions and of course, I obliged. I always love hearing my friends tell me to make sure to tell someone to induct __________ (insert favorite rock group) into the Hall. (Usually KISS or RUSH) I’m not sure exactly how the nominations go about, and while I have my own feelings about some of the great groups that have been left out (Eagles, Heart, Journey & oh so many more), I was fairly satisfied with this years group of inductees.

Concert Blast - Tom Thompson, Mike Arnold, Brian Hasbrook

Written by Mike Arnold
The concert touring season seems to run from the middle of March through the begining of December.  While we wait for the artists to hit the road or the Festivals to crank up the music for the large crowds, I decided this would be a great time to re-post our most popular Music Discussion Podcast – Time Songs from October of 2007.

Brian Hasbrook brought the idea to Tom Thompson and me, so we individually collected songs from our memory bank and our research then came together to record our podcast to discuss the songs we found and to remember stories of the artists of the songs.
