Concert Blast was invited to cover the 2014 Musicians Hall of Fame Ceremony and Show so Mike Arnold and Tom Thompson jumped at the chance to cover this annual event again. Unfortunately our main photographer, Brian Hasbrook, was out of town, so Mike Arnold and Concert Blast friend Allen Atkinson took over the duties. Those inducted were; Peter Frampton, Randy Bachman, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Capps, Barbara Mandrell, Ben Keith, Will Lee, Corki Casey O’Dell, Velma Smith, and Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble. The 2014 Iconic Riff Award went to Roy Orbison for the famous riff in his rock hit, Pretty Woman. The 2014 Industry Icon Award was awarded to Mike Curb who created his own record label at the age of 18 and gained national attention a year later. Others at the show to help with the ceremony were; ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Neil Young, Don Felder, Billy Cox, Steve Wariner, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Oak Ridge Boys, Duane Eddy, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Chris Isaak, and Brenda Lee.  Enjoy the photos from the Concert Blast coverage of the 2014 Musicians Hall of Fame Ceremony and Show hosted by Charles “Chip” Esten.

        Record Store Day
On Saturday April 20th, 2013, Record Store Day was celebrated throughout the world to continue to bring awareness that vinyl records still exist and to bring them to turntables everywhere… well, for those who still have turntables.  One of our Concert Blast friends and guest blogger, Terri Gibson, spent her day at Jack White‘s Third Man Records in Nashville, TN to celebrate this annual event.  Check out Terri’s blog and be sure to make plans to attend next year’s Record Store Day!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2011 Induction Ceremony Written by Josh Jackson

For the second year in a row I was invited to work as the script supervisor for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions and of course, I obliged. I always love hearing my friends tell me to make sure to tell someone to induct __________ (insert favorite rock group) into the Hall. (Usually KISS or RUSH) I’m not sure exactly how the nominations go about, and while I have my own feelings about some of the great groups that have been left out (Eagles, Heart, Journey & oh so many more), I was fairly satisfied with this years group of inductees.

A Look Back 0n 2010- Part 6 The Final Chapter

While the concert-touring season has slowed down for the winter, I thought it would be nice to show our listening audiences what we went through in 2010.  I created multiple videos of our experiences with a month by month journey of our adventures.

Here’s Part 6, the final chapter of our 2010 Concert Blast Posts.  This video takes you through our experiences of October through December.

Farm Aid - 25th Anniversary Concert

Written By Guest Blogger Josh Jackson

October 2, 2010 marked the 25th Anniversary of Farm Aid, the concert started back in 1985 by Willie Nelson to provide relief for America’s family farmers. Since it’s inception, stars from all genres of music have joined Willie and board members John Mellencamp, Neil Young & most recent appointee, Dave Matthews to form star-studded events for the cause. One would hope that after 25 years the problem would have been corrected, but there is still a great need to provide help to farmers across the country. As Willie stated this year, ‘The great thing is we’re still around 25 years later. The bad news is…we’re still around 25 years later.’

So, once again a massive event was hosted to support the American family farmer. And for the first time, the event was held in Milwaukee at the fabulous, Miller Park: home to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Crosby, Stills, and Nash In Concert

                        Written by Mike Arnold

I remember the first time I listened to the harmony of Crosby, Stills, & Nash, they had another member in the band with them which completed their super-stardom of the 70s.  Neil Young decided to leave for a solo career and became as popular (if not more) than the group he left.  I’m not a huge Neil Young fan, but after witnessing CS&N in concert as the opening act for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, I would have to say without hesitation that I truly missed Neil Young performing with his former band mates.

David Crosby, Stephen Sills, and Graham Nash performed on this night in Nashville, TN as an opening act, but more of a double bill.  Their performance lasted 90 minutes, which included an encore of 2 very popular songs.
