Alicia Dean Gives Audio Tour of Graceland
When Mike Arnold and Brian Hasbrook of Concert Blast traveled to Memphis, TN to cover the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival, they were also invited for an escorted personal tour of the home of Elvis Presley. If you remember a few months ago, I reviewed my less than pleasurable experience seeing Sheryl Crow at The River Bend Music Fest in Chattanooga, TN. It wasn’t that Sheryl was bad, she was great, but what I was told was a front row seat was actually a seat quite a ways back from the stage behind a general admission area and the band was on a stage that was at least 40 feet high. Now for a casual music fan, that would have been satisfactory, but I am not your casual music fan. When I go to a show I like to be as close to the stage as possible, especially when it comes to a favorite of mine like Sheryl Crow. I was glad that I had the chance to see her perform several shows on this tour because the other shows that I attended more than made up for the sour taste that was left in my mouth after the Chattanooga show.

Going to see a Pat Benatar concert is like putting a quarter in a classic rock juke box. She performs hit after hit and her voice still sounds great! By adding to that wonderful voice, Pat’s husband Neil Giraldo and his screaming guitar licks, you have one of the best shows on the classic rock circuit today.

Pat didn’t have a new album out to promote this summer but she does have a book out called “Between A Heart And A Hard Place.” Each city tour stop became an appearance at a local bookstore to sign copies of the book and to meet her fans. She was going to be at the Davis Kidd Book Store in Memphis at 12:30pm on the day of the show, so I packed up my bags and took off early that morning so that I could meet up with my friend Julie, who lives in Memphis, and go meet Pat.
