It was a Hot August night in Nashville, TN as Billy Joe Shaver came to town to perform his Honky Tonk classics at one of the coolest music venues the city has to offer, the legendary Exit/In.
Mike Arnold, Brian Hasbrook, and James Downing were on hand to cover the concert as Billy Joe Shaver performed songs and told stories to the packed venue.
The night began later than planned, due to Billy Joe and band arriving a half hour late, and the night lasted longer than expected due to the two and a half hour set.
The 72 year young Billy Joe Shaver and his band took the stage about 10:35pm and the show ended after 1:00am. Due to the late arrival to the venue, Billy Joe didn’t have time to meet for an interview, but Concert Blast provided a concert review podcast with plenty of live clips.
Some of the highlights of the evening was when Billy Joe Shaver was just being himself with his story telling and performing his songs such as “Wacko From Waco”, ”Georgia on a Fast Train”, ”Black Rose”, “Live Forever”, ”Honey Bee”, “Ragged Old Truck”, “If You Don’t Love Jesus”, “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With Jesus Christ”, and many other stories, ballads, and rowdy songs which thrilled this Nashville, TN crowd.
Mike Arnold provided this concert review podcast since the show lasted so late. Mike described the show as Fun, Funny, Disapointing, and Confusing. Listen to his podcast as he described why he felt this way. Mike goes through the entire setlist of the night with commentary throughout. There are plenty of live clips of the evening to enjoy.
